My first car was a 1964 Tempest. A 215 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder with faded red paint and a bullet hole in the trunk. I paid $225 for it. It really wasn’t much to look at but it got me to high school and my after-school job. Like many kids who grew up in the ‘70s I dreamed of owning a new muscle car. Camaros and Mustangs were my favorite. That wasn’t going to happen so I went about the work of fixing up what I had because I couldn’t afford anything else.

Fast forward to today and instead of muscle cars let’s talk about your website. The great thing about technology is you can overhaul your website affordably and updating your website can be just as simple as doing some research into kingkong.com.au review and finding out whether you want to use a specialist service or give it a go yourself at creating a website. Not everyone is as skilled in this department, which is why getting some help would be a good way to go.

for much less than you might imagine. If your website is more than a few years old, here are five things I highly recommend you do.

1. Bodywork – Get a new website Template

Replace the sheet metal on your website and give it a new paint job. It may be a good idea for you to go for a complete rehaul in terms of web design as well, and you may want to have a look at somewhere like www.hostiserver.com if you’re in need of some further web hosting options. There are so many new WordPress templates that are very affordable and loaded with features. I there one key feature to look for; If they work well with smartphones and tablets. I recently used the Avada template from Themeforest to build a new website for my client NCS. His site was over 6 years old and the difference is like trading in a Yugo for a Corvette.

2. Rebuild the Engine – Search Engine Optimization

I often dreamed of replacing my inline six-cylinder with a small block 327 V8. For websites, search is the V8 engine you need to attract people to your site and there is nothing like keyword optimized content to improve getting found on page one of Google, Yahoo, or Bing. If you use WordPress, I highly recommend you use the SEO plug-in from Yoast. It checks your pages and blogs for keywords and with a little thought and creativity allows you to optimize for SEO. I use this on all the customer websites I build and manage.

3. Anti-Theft Security System – Use Anti-Spam plug-ins

I never installed a security system on my Tempest but if I had owned a new Camaro I would have certainly thought about it. Unfortunately, there are bad people out there who constantly post spam to websites. This destroys the credibility of your brand and is quite a nuisance to manage. WordPress plugins like Askimet help to filter out spam generated from blogs. Also use the Captcha plug-in on web forms.

4. Dashboard Gauges – Web Analytics

Without working gauges you never know if things are working properly. How fast am I going? Is the engine is overheating? How much gas is there? We also need to understand if our websites are also working properly. We need gauges that provide data on who, what, where, when and how. This type of customer data can then be analyzed and used to improve an existing website. Moreover, in some cases, this information can even be applied to any products or services so that they can meet the needs of their customers in a more impactful way. You can learn more about data analysis software and technology by doing some research into web analytics experts such as Heap Analytics. Furthermore, it’s amazing to me how many websites are not set up with Google Analytics. Even if they have it, for business owners, the idea of using website monitoring software is very important, as it can help with aspects such as assisting with hosting issues, traffic and even any downtime your site may have.

Besides Google Analytics, use Jetpack from WordPress.com to monitor activity such as sources of website traffic and what keywords visitors are using to find your website.

5. Entertainment System – Content is the Music

Nothing made riding in cars more fun than a good sound system. I installed an aftermarket in-dash AM/FM 8-track tape player stereo system. Hey it was state of the art at one time! I could crank up the volume and enjoy the ride. Good content that engages our website visitors is music to their ears. We have to determine what type of entertainment we want to provide whether that is blogs, eBooks, videos, etc. These will vary based on your business and industry you are in. Using Google Alerts is a great way to keep up with the latest topics and trends that people are interested in, and there are other methods you can employ. Some people choose to spread their content via link building services, which is detailed upon in this study, and can be a great way to help increase the reach of your site. The goal is to create an experience where visitors can get to know, like and trust you. If you are successful then it to be a long and enjoyable road trip for both of you!
